Product of Israel. Region: Galilee. Variety: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon Alc/Vol 14% Kosher for Passover Mevushal: No Tasting Notes: This appealing Merlot exhibits nice body and a pleasing finish. Hints of cherry, plum and orange zest fruit notes layered with characters of earth, dried herbs and dark chocolate. Food Pairing: Enjoy with mushroom lasagna, thin-crust pizza or grilled hamburgers. Gamla Merlot was produced from Merlot and a small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon, all grown in the Golan Heights. The cool climate, rocky volcanic soil, and high altitude are ideal conditions for growing these classic varieties. Aging in oak barrels, mostly French with a bit of American, rounds out the berry, floral, and spice characters in this approachable and elegant Merlot. To preserve the quality of the wine, the bottle should be stored on its side in a cool, dark place. While ready to drink now, the Gamla Merlot will remain in good drinking condition for about seven years from harvest.
