Gamla Cabernet Sauvignon displays complex aromas of cherry, blackberry and mulberry, along with hints of tobacco, herb and French oak. This flavorful wine exhibits a full body and a satisfying finish. While ready to enjoy upon release, Gamla Cabernet will develop in the bottle for a number of years, and will age well for about six to eight years from harvest. Try pairing the wine with braised beef short ribs, grilled steak with salsa verde, or a mushroom and black bean burger topped with cheese. Gamla Cabernet is produced from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes harvested from vineyards on the cool Golan Heights. The wine aged in French oak barrels for 12 months. Region: The Galilee (or Galil) is the most northern, and generally considered the best, appellation in Israel. The highest quality area within the appellation is the Golan Heights (or simply the Golan), the coldest region in Israel. The vineyards on this volcanic plateau rise from 400 meters (1,300 feet) above sea level to 1,200 meters (3,900 feet) and receive snowfall in the winter. Golan Heights Winery is located in the town of Katzrin in the central Golan.
